On December 26, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang worked with Becamex Group on key projects for science and technology development and innovation in Ho Chi Minh City, with the focus on building the Science and Technology City - North Ho Chi Minh City project.
The City of Science and Technology is identified as a strategic project, planned to become the innovation nucleus of the North and Northwest areas of Ho Chi Minh City.
The development space of the City of Science and Technology is organized with 200 hectares of core area in Binh Duong ward and a production belt surrounding about 1,700 hectares.
At the working session, Mr. Nguyen Van Hung - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex Group spoke, agreeing on the policy of forming the City of Science and Technology - North Ho Chi Minh City, with the center located in Binh Duong ward.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hung also proposed assigning Becamex Group as a strategic investor, continuing to invest in infrastructure of the City of Science and Technology - North Ho Chi Minh City, and at the same time coordinating with partners to mobilize social resources. Key projects include Saigon Innovation Campus with a scale of 100 ha in Binh Duong ward and a science park of about 103 ha.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Becamex Group also proposed that Ho Chi Minh City leaders assign Becamex Group to manage the Binh Duong Administrative Center building. Converting the function of the area around the old Binh Duong Provincial Administrative Center into a space for science and technology and innovation. Thereby, Becamex Group can maintain the operation of the building and effectively use the building to meet the development of science and technology.
Speaking to direct, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang said that this is a model of a Science and Technology City that has been successfully implemented by many countries; to integrate and develop at the international level, Vietnam needs to boldly test new models, participate in a "big game". The Secretary of the City Party Committee proposed that the Binh Duong Development Research Institute and the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology closely coordinate with Becamex Group and related units to complete the project. The goal is that within one year, the project will be agreed upon, submitted to competent authorities for approval and official announcement.

Emphasizing the role of the business community, Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Tran Luu Quang said that mechanisms and policies need to be attractive enough for investors to see sustainable profit opportunities, thereby attracting social resources to participate. Ho Chi Minh City is ready to apply open and flexible mechanisms within its authority, prioritizing cutting administrative procedures, strengthening substantive support and accompanying businesses in the project implementation process.
