Information from the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province, the unit has reported to the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee on the Sea Sand Exploitation Project and the Project to establish a Center for the operation and management of sea sand exploitation.
According to the project, sea sand mining activities will be implemented in Tran De district with a scale of about 4,000 hectares, divided into many stages. The project has a total estimated investment capital of about VND54,000 billion and an expected revenue of up to VND56,000 billion. This amount will be directly used for the construction of an industrial complex, logistics, non-taxable zone and Tran De deep-water port.
Along with that, it is proposed to establish a Center for operation and management of sea sand exploitation according to the model of a public service unit, under the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Soc Trang province. The Center will comprehensively manage exploration, exploitation, auction and use of marine sand resources. In addition, organize mineral auctions publicly and transparently, ensuring revenue for the budget and reinvesting in infrastructure in the Tran De area such as dykes, wharves, transportation, electricity, water and telecommunications.

Soc Trang is considered a province with great potential for marine sand resources, with an initial estimated exploitation reserve of about 150 million m3 to meet the needs of filling for key projects and infrastructure of Tran De seaport.
The province has also planned 4,000 hectares of land for this purpose, including 1,000 hectares for logistics and logistics service areas and 3,000 hectares for logistics and logistics industrial - service areas.
