According to a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, 3 national highways : 57, 57C and 57B, towards coastal localities of Ben Tre province, have small and narrow road widths.
Mr. Nguyen Thanh Dung (residing in Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province) shared: Ben Tre province's planning for the period 2021-2030, vision to 2050, oriented towards development towards the sea. However, currently, the three national highways in the area include: 57, 57C and 57B. The closer you go to the coastal areas, the smaller and narrower the road surface becomes. Meanwhile, the volume of vehicles passing through these national highways is very large.
In addition, according to Mr. Dung, the drainage system is not adequate, so every time it rains heavily, some sections of rainwater stagnate on the road surface, forming "potholes and elephantholes", posing a potential risk of traffic accidents.
Similar to Mr. Dung, Mr. Huy (living in Ben Tre City, Ben Tre Province) said that National Highways including: 57, 57C and 57B going to localities bordering the sea are very narrow, with a large number of vehicles moving. This is the main route. Among them, there are many large cars.
"I hope that the authorities will consider upgrading and expanding national highways including: 57, 57C and 57B to meet the travel and goods transportation needs of people" - Mr. Huy said.
Mr. Cao Minh Duc - Director of the Department of Transport of Ben Tre province - said that 3 national highways including: 57, 57C and 57B are currently entrusted to the management of Ben Tre province by the Ministry of Transport.
According to Mr. Duc, the Ministry of Transport has allocated capital to maintain and repair each section but has not yet allocated capital to upgrade and expand these National Highways. Currently, the above three national highways, when heading towards coastal areas, have narrow road widths. Therefore, in the coming time, Ben Tre will propose to the Ministry of Transport to prioritize allocating capital resources to help localities upgrade and expand the above National Highways to develop transport infrastructure, meeting the needs of local people. The movement of people and transportation of goods is convenient.
