On September 24, the MAG Bomb and Mining Advisory Group (a non-governmental organization operating in the field of humanitarian bomb and mine clearing) in Vietnam said that it had just completed the handling of a 241kg bomb in Dan Hoa commune (Quang Tri province).
Previously, while fishing in a stream in Dan Hoa commune, Ms. Ho Khuon (a local) suddenly discovered a large bomb located 20m from National Highway 12A. The incident was immediately reported to the commune authorities.
After receiving the report, MAG's Mobile Team arrived and determined that this was a MK82 bomb, weighing 241 kg, with a lethality of up to 1,500 m. The technical forces deployed safety measures and within just one hour, the bomb was transported to the explosives site for handling.
Mr. Dinh Luong - Military Commander of Dan Hoa commune said that this area has been discovered many times with no-free bombs, especially along streams and creeks. The MAG alone handled many MK82 bombs in the area.
