On August 14, the Mobile Bomb and Mines Handling Team (EOD1) of PeaceTrees VietNam said that it had successfully handled the MK-82 bomb by incineration in the Vietnam - Laos border area, near the 607(1 milestone), lia commune, Huong Hoa district, Quang Tri province.
Previously, during the construction of the embankment to prevent landslides, the construction unit discovered the bomb and reported it.
The bomb was identified to be 274 mm in diameter, 1.54 m long, 227 kg weight, containing 87.1 kg of explosives, located near the edge of the Se Pon River, less than 70 m from the border marker.
Under the coordination of border guards, local military and relevant departments, the incineration plan was safely implemented.
After nearly an hour, the bomb was completely destroyed, ensuring the safety of people's lives and property and national works.
The successful handling continues to contribute to cleaning up the bombs and mines left over from the war, protecting the safety of the community.
