Mr. Nguyen Quoc Tuan - Chairman of the People's Committee of Sop Cop commune, Son La province said that the cracks in Na Loc village appeared a few years ago, before that, 3 households had to move to another place to live.
However, after the heavy rain on the afternoon of August 12, this cracked land expanded very quickly, affecting 58 households, of which 28 were directly affected.
That same afternoon, the forces evacuated people and property of 28 households to safety.
"In the immediate future, the commune has relocated households at high risk, and put up ropes, warning signs, and sent forces to be on duty 24/7 to prohibit people from passing through landslide areas. Households that had to be relocated were temporarily arranged to live at the commune police headquarters and schools" - Mr. Tuan said.
