The incident occurred on the evening of July 14, at the entrance of Ong Bo culvert, Da Do river, An Quang commune. The victim, T.Q.H (born in 2013, a 6th grade student at Quang Trung Secondary School, residing in Cat Tien village, An Quang commune) drowned and died.
On the same afternoon, H and three other classmates went to the Da Do river area to swim. While playing in the water, H was unfortunately swept away by the water, exhausted and went missing.
After receiving the report from the people at around 9:30 p.m., the Department of Culture and Social Affairs promptly reported to the leaders of the Commune People's Committee, and at the same time coordinated with the Commune Police, the Criminal Police Department (PC02), the Criminal Techniques Department (PC09) to organize the search, examination of the scene and support the family in handling the funeral.
That same night, the commune government directly visited the victim's family to visit, share and encourage, and provide immediate support of 5 million VND to help the family overcome the painful loss.
Previously, on July 11, An Quang commune issued Official Letter No. 35/UBND-VHXH requesting sectors, unions, villages, and schools to actively propagate, review dangerous areas, install warning signs, and use radio and social networks to raise awareness of drowning prevention for children.
After the heartbreaking incident that just occurred, the Standing Committee of the An Quang Commune Party Committee requested the subordinate Party cells to continue to seriously disseminate the work of preventing child injuries and drowning to each Party member, union member, and association member, coordinate with the front work committee, women's association, youth union, village executive committee, etc. to organize propaganda and supervision activities at the grassroots level.
The Social Party Committee assigns specific responsibilities to Party members in charge of the area to increase monitoring, grasping and promptly detecting and preventing risks. The Department of Culture - Social Affairs, the Youth Union, the Commune Police and mass organizations continue to advise and synchronously implement solutions to protect children's safety and health, especially in the upcoming summer and rainy season.
