On January 17, according to Mr. Nguyen Truong An, specialist of the Department of People with Meritorious Services of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri province, the 584 Martyrs' Remains Collection Team, Political Department, Military Command of Quang Tri province has just collected 4 martyrs' remains.
Among the remains being collected, functional forces discovered a pen engraved with the words "VUONG CHI CAO", accompanied by motifs of pigeons, coconut trees and turtle towers.
After receiving information, through initial review, the Department of People with Meritorious Services of the Department of Home Affairs of Quang Tri province determined that there are currently no martyrs nationwide named VUONG CHI CAO or similar names.
According to initial assessments, the engraved text on the artifact is likely the name of a person of special significance to the martyr.
Currently, Team 584 is still continuing to organize search and gathering in the above area; after zoning and concluding the area, functional forces expect to have more information about the units of the martyrs.
Previously, in Quang Tri, there were many cases of martyrs' remains being collected with artifacts engraved with their names, through which functional agencies verified and identified their identities.
As Lao Dong Newspaper has reported, from January 9 to now, Team 584 has discovered and collected 4 remains of martyrs in the area of Trai Ca village, Dakrong commune.
The remains were found in the melaleuca forest of the people, lying under the soil layer, with many artifacts such as shoe soles, ammunition boxes. Despite the complex mountainous terrain and harsh weather, the gathering force still persistently sticks to the area, meticulously searching with the desire to soon bring the martyrs who sacrificed for the Fatherland back to their motherland and families. According to the tomb map, this area has 8 martyrs' remains.
