According to information from the Traffic Police Department, on February 21, 2026, a car driver sent a clip reflecting through the VNeTraffic application, recording the scene of a motorbike moving amidst a high-speed traffic flow on the Hanoi - Hai Phong highway. That image, if only glanced at, may startle people because of the "out of place" of a motorbike amidst a stream of cars speeding at 80-100km/h, or even higher. But behind that out of place is the risk of particularly serious accidents.
Highways are not ordinary roads. It is a traffic space designed for cars, with the characteristics of high traffic volume, high speed, and distance between vehicles calculated based on specific technical standards. The appearance of a motorcycle that has a much lower acceleration, stability and safety protection than cars has broken the entire "rhythm". Just one unexpected situation, one sharp steering, one emergency braking, the consequences may not stop at one person.
What is worth thinking about is that the violator in this case is a student, that is, a young person, educated, with access to information, law and technology. In the current context, traffic regulations, especially regulations prohibiting motorbikes from entering the expressway, are not unfamiliar. No-entry signs are clearly placed at highway entry and exit points. Media, social networks, and even tragic accident clips have repeatedly mentioned the risk of death when motorbikes "get lost" on the expressway. Yet violations still occur.
There may be many reasons given: Going the wrong way, not paying attention to traffic signs, wanting to shorten the distance, or simply being subjective and thinking that "running a section is probably okay". But traffic does not accept "surely okay". On the highway, every mistake is amplified by speed.
From a legal perspective, a fine of 4-6 million VND and a deduction of 6 points from the driver's license according to Decree 168/2024/ND-CP are completely grounded. It is not only a personal sanction, but also a general deterrent message. When the law has clearly stipulated "strictly prohibit motorbikes and mopeds from circulating on highways", all violations must be strictly handled.
However, fines are only the tip of the iceberg. The root of the problem lies in traffic awareness and culture. For many years, we have witnessed many cases of motorbikes going against traffic on highways, stopping and parking arbitrarily, even turning around in the middle of the road. Each case is widely shared on social networks, causing outrage, and then gradually subside. But if there is no real change in awareness, "shocking clips" will continue to be repeated.
For young people, especially students, complying with the Traffic Law is not only a civic obligation, but also an expression of social responsibility. A moment of recklessness can be exchanged for the whole future. An accident on the highway, if it happens, is not just a statistic but the pain of family, friends and even those who are accidentally caught up.
The case of a female student riding a motorbike on the Hanoi - Hai Phong highway may just be an isolated case, but it reminds us that: Amidst the speeding cars, just one wrong action is enough to create a danger for the whole system. The law is there, technology has supported, and sanctions are clear. The rest is awareness, this is the "invisible and safe barrier" to protect each of us on every road.
