On August 5, the People's Committee of Tuyen Binh commune (Quang Tri province) announced that the locality had officially announced the outbreak of lumpy skin disease in buffalo and cow herds after many cases of infection and livestock died from the virus.
"The first epidemic was discovered on July 24 at Mr. Tran Van Hue's household (Nam Son village) with a 180kg cow that showed unusual symptoms and died later. The samples were submitted for testing and tested positive for the bulge dermatitis virus, according to the conclusion from the Central Veterinary Diagnosis and Testing Center I.
On August 1, in the same area, Mr. Mai Van Le's family continued to record another dead cow with similar signs. The commune government has coordinated with the veterinary force to organize the destruction and containment of the outbreak according to regulations.
To control the spread of the epidemic, the People's Committee of Tuyen Binh commune has applied emergency measures such as disinfection spraying, controlling transportation, slaughtering buffalo and cow and increasing propaganda, instructing people to identify disease symptoms, proactively isolate and care for cattle.
Previously, as Lao Dong Newspaper reported, African swine fever is still complicated in Quang Tri.
The authorities assessed that the main cause of the spread was due to small-scale livestock farming conditions, lack of biosafety and limited awareness of epidemic prevention. Destroying the sick pigs in the wrong process further increases the risk of spreading pathogens.
Currently, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Quang Tri province has mobilized 98 toxic sprayers, using more than 6,000 liters of chemicals, tightening supervision of transportation, slaughter and continuing to promote propaganda on epidemic prevention to each household.
