After 72 years of the Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2026), from a higher perspective, Dien Bien is wearing the appearance of a dynamic young city.
Muong Thanh basin today no longer bears the traces of a battlefield full of bombs and bullets, but a modern, spacious urban picture with synchronously invested infrastructure.

For more than 70 years, impressive traffic and infrastructure projects have been built such as: Vo Nguyen Giap road, 7/5 road, Truong Chinh road, Dien Bien airport have been upgraded and expanded; new Thanh Binh bridge across the Nam Rom river...
Although on the path of developing as a type 3 urban area, Dien Bien Phu and Muong Thanh inter-wards still preserve their heroic historical values intact.
Legendary landmarks such as A1 hill, De Castries tunnel... are preserved and restored by the government and people.

In the center, the Dien Bien Phu Victory Monument placed on Hill D1 (belonging to the National Special Relic Dien Bien Phu Battlefield) has long been a familiar image for many people whenever mentioning Dien Bien.
For many years, the image of the Monument has been used quite commonly in the image and symbol of promoting Dien Bien Phu land in particular and Dien Bien province in general.

In 1953, the French army built Muong Thanh bridge, spanning the Nam Rom River, 40m long, 5m wide, the bridge railings are iron bars with load-bearing structures, the bridge deck is wooden, and below are girders connected very firmly, ensuring a permissible load of 8 - 15 tons.
Muong Thanh Bridge is 1 of more than 40 component relic sites of the Dien Bien Phu Special National Relic Site.
This was originally a engineering bridge connecting the eastern strongholds with the central command post of the Dien Bien Phu stronghold group (De Castries tunnel).

The Dien Bien Phu Victory Museum currently stores more than 7,000 artifacts related to the Dien Bien Phu Campaign. The current Museum project was officially started in October 2012 on an area of 22,000m2 and opened to visitors on May 5, 2014 after 19 months of construction.
In the center of the project is the space for placing the panorama painting "Dien Bien Phu Campaign" - one of the largest murals in the world on the theme of war.

Opposite the Museum is the National Martyrs' Cemetery A1 with 644 graves of heroic martyrs located right at the foot of Hill A1.
Most of the martyrs at cemetery A1 sacrificed in the battle on Hill A1 lasting 39 days and nights before our army and people made the Dien Bien Phu Victory "famous in five continents, shaking the earth".
