After a long period of implementation, the project to invest in the construction of a border bridge across the Red River in Ban Vuoc commune and connecting infrastructure is gradually reaching its destination.
On the entire route, the road surface has been paved with smooth asphalt, the system of signs and drainage ditches is basically completed, creating a new face for the border gate area of Lao Cai province.

According to records on February 19, many previously degraded sections have now been expanded and upgraded synchronously. Vehicle traffic has become more convenient, especially transport vehicles serving import and export activities through the border gate area.
Through research, the project is implemented in the period 2021-2025, including three main components.
In which, component 1 focuses on building a border bridge across the Red River; upgrading Provincial Road 156, the section from the intersection with road BV32 and BV28 to the intersection with road BV190, about 3km long; and at the same time renovating the Noi Bai - Lao Cai IC18 expressway intersection.

Component 2 includes upgrading Provincial Road 156, the section from Quang Kim bridge to the intersection with BV32 and BV28 roads, about 8km long, combined with leveling both sides of the route with a depth of 50m. Component 3 is upgrading and renovating IC19 intersection to increase regional connectivity.
The total investment of the entire project is 1,490 billion VND, of which the central budget supports 950 billion VND, and the local budget counterparts 540 billion VND.

Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Pham Minh Hai - Deputy Director of the Lao Cai Provincial Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board - said that the implementation process has encountered many difficulties, especially the land clearance work in the border area is complicated.
However, with the involvement of local authorities and the consensus of the people, key items have basically been completed according to the plan.
Up to now, most of the construction volume has been completed. After the holidays, the contractor will asphalt the section in front of Bat Xat hospital gate and the beginning of Kim Thanh border gate, complete auxiliary items to put the entire route into synchronous operation," Mr. Hai informed.

The completion of the road not only helps shorten travel time between border areas but also creates motivation to attract investment, develop logistics and border trade.
People in Bat Xat commune expressed their excitement when the new road was formed.
Mr. Nguyen Van Hoan (Bat Xat commune) said: "Previously, travel and transportation of goods faced many obstacles due to bad roads and unfinished construction. Now the roads are wide, vehicles travel conveniently, and people's business is also much more convenient.

According to the assessment of functional sectors, when the entire project is completed and operated synchronously, Provincial Road 156 and the border bridge across the Red River will become an important connecting axis, contributing to completing the border transport network, promoting socio-economic development and ensuring national defense and security in Lao Cai province.
