On the afternoon of May 11, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee and Mr. Duong Anh Duc - Member of the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee of the City Party Committee of Ho Chi Minh City visited the construction site of the pedestrian bridge across the Saigon River. Here, the working delegation directly witnessed the first concrete pouring of the main bridge pier base. This is an important milestone bringing the project into the key structural construction phase, an item of decisive significance for the quality, safety as well as the overall progress of the entire project.

Reporting to the working delegation, Mr. Tran Van Thi - Director of My Thuan Project Management Board, the unit assigned by the investor to manage the project, said that the total length of the entire bridge (including the main bridge and approach bridge) is 720m, of which the main bridge span is 187m long. Up to now, the construction progress of the approach bridge part has reached 90%. For the main bridge part, the steel bridge processing package has also reached 60% of the volume. On the ground, the contractor has completed all bored piles of two pillars TC1 and TC2.
Providing more information about the concrete pouring of TC2 piers in the afternoon of May 11, Mr. Thi emphasized that the scale of the pier base this time is relatively large compared to the river overpasses built recently. "With a total area of about 1,800m2, the volume of concrete used specifically for TC2 piers is up to 5,764m3," said the Director of My Thuan Project Management Board.

According to the implementation plan, after pouring concrete, it is expected that in June 2026, the project will complete both TC1 and TC2 main pillars. By the beginning of August, the construction unit will proceed to tow the steel bridge structure part from Vung Tau to the project area to proceed with installation. My Thuan Project Management Board and related units will closely coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction to implement this plan, striving to put the project into operation on time for National Day September 2, 2026.

Representing the working delegation, Mr. Bui Xuan Cuong - Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee emphasized that the concrete pouring of the first pillar base is a particularly important time for a symbolic project in the city center area. Mr. Cuong also highly appreciated the new investment form of the project when the sponsor NutiFood contributed nearly 1,000 billion VND to build the entire project as a gift to the city.
Since the groundbreaking ceremony on April 30, 2025, after 12 months of urgent construction, up to this point, we assess that the project has closely followed and ensured the main milestones in implementation. On behalf of the city leaders, I would like to acknowledge and commend the efforts of the investor and all workers and engineers at the construction site," Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Xuan Cuong said.
