On March 21, Nam Ba Don Commune People's Committee said that Company Limited 207 had gone to each household to inspect, statistically assess damage and deploy compensation plans.
According to Mr. Phung Quang Dat - Director of 207 Co., Ltd., the unit is allowed to detonate mines twice a day, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM. The incident occurred unintentionally.
Mr. Dat said that because the explosion point was located at a high position, during the drilling process to put explosives in, a hollow appeared inside the rock block. When detonated, this structure created an effect like a "push loudspeaker", causing the rock to fly far away, beyond the control range.
Immediately after the incident, the business coordinated with local authorities to inspect the scene, verify damage and implement remediation. Currently, compensation and damage recovery work has been completed, and households have also confirmed the damage figure.
The total compensation amount for the affected households reported by 207 Co., Ltd. is nearly 100 million VND, of which 3 heavily damaged houses are Ms. Cao Thi Thu nearly 23 million VND, Ms. Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan 15 million VND and Ms. Doan Thi Hoa 15 million VND.
Regarding the incident, the Department of Industry and Trade decided to temporarily suspend the mining operation of 207 Co., Ltd. from March 19 until the inspection is completed.
