Thanh Hoa - Regarding the incident in which Son Hai Group denounced the destruction of highway signs, the road management unit has spoken out about the incident.

On November 2, regarding the incident in which Son Hai Group denounced a group of people for removing the words "10-year warranty commitment" on the signboard of the highway section through Nghi Son Town, Thanh Hoa, Mr. Nguyen Duc Dung - Deputy Director of Road Management Area II, under the Vietnam Road Administration - confirmed that it was the unit that directed the removal of the above words.

According to Mr. Dung, the reason for removing this line of writing is because it was not in the design documents. When the road was completed, the State had paid all related items to the contractor (including the sign item), and the above line of writing was not in the design documents, so the unit had it removed.

The representative of Road Management Area II also confirmed that the removal of the above inscription had been requested by the unit to the investor, however, the investor (Project Management Board 6 - Ministry of Transport) did not remove it, so the unit sent someone to remove it. This removal was also not notified to the contractor.

Discussing the incident, Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai - Chairman of the Board of Directors of Son Hai Group - affirmed that the above sign is not state property but the property of Son Hai Group. The reason is that this sign is not included in the items to be paid for, and this is not a traffic sign but a sign announcing a 10-year road warranty commitment.

During construction, this sign was designed by the enterprise according to traffic sign standards, so there were additional traffic parameters on the sign to ensure vehicle safety.

“Up to now, we have not received any documents or notices from Road Management Area II or Project Management Board 6 regarding the removal of the warranty commitment on the signs,” Mr. Hai informed.

According to Mr. Hai, the unit has enough grounds to confirm that this is the property of the enterprise, not the state. Therefore, any individual or organization that arbitrarily destroys it is a violation. "Son Hai Group will provide full documents for the police to clarify the above incident" - Mr. Hai said.

On November 2, speaking with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, a representative of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police said that the unit had received a complaint from Son Hai Group.

“After receiving the petition from Son Hai Group, we transferred it to the investigation agency; assigned Nghi Son Town Police to handle, verify and clarify” - said a representative of Thanh Hoa Provincial Police.

Previously, as reported by Lao Dong Newspaper, Son Hai Group sent a criminal complaint to Thanh Hoa Provincial Police and Nghi Son Town Police requesting an investigation into the act of sabotage on the Nghi Son - Dien Chau expressway.

Along with the criminal complaint, Son Hai Group also sent photos and videos as evidence.

According to Son Hai Group, the Nghi Son - Dien Chau Expressway Project (section through Nghi Son Town) was constructed by Son Hai Group and put into use on September 1, 2023. By mid-October 2023, many chemical stains that corrode the asphalt surface of the road appeared in some locations on this route. After discovering the incident, Son Hai Group filed a report to the authorities to investigate the suspected sabotage of the road.

"The act of pouring chemicals to destroy the road surface and the 10-year warranty sign is an intentional act of sabotage, causing negative impacts on society, damaging our property, reputation and honor. Therefore, we have requested the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police to investigate and strictly handle the case according to regulations," affirmed Mr. Nguyen Viet Hai, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Son Hai Group.
