Information from the Power Project Management Board 3 (Vietnam Electricity Group), the project to supply power from the national grid to Con Dao district (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province) is being accelerated by the construction unit.
As of June 17, in Vinh Chau town area (Soc Trang province), the construction on the shore of package 01XL-DZCD has implemented the construction of 14 pillar foundations, of which 12 steel pillars have been completely installed. The pulling of the rope on the bank has also been completed 4/8 of the anchor.
During the sea line construction, all steel columns at 18 pillar locations have been transported to the construction site, ready to be carried onto barges to move to the pillar foundation locations. Currently, the contractor is focusing on increasing construction equipment and human resources, aiming to complete all steel pole installation and day pulling before August 16, 2025.
Other packages also recorded a lot of progress. Package 02XL-DZCD has completed pouring concrete for 6/8 foundations, is continuing to deploy the VT16 pile embankment and install the VT15 concrete pouring railing. Package 03XL-DZCD has completed the concrete for all 5/5 foundations, qualified to install pillars. Meanwhile, Package 04XL-DZCD has also completed 3/5 foundations; the remaining 2 foundations (VT28 and VT29) are expected to complete concrete on June 23 and 30, 2025, respectively.

In Con Dao area (Ba Ria - Vung Tau province), Package 05XL-DZCD has completed all 21/21 cable connection tunnels, pouring concrete for cable ditches along the entire route with a total length of 8,109md. The contractor is implementing stages to complete the site to soon restore the status quo. At the same time, in Package 06XL-DZCD, the contractor is also rushing to complete the inside and outside of the GIS station floors, striving to complete all of them before June 30, 2025, to be eligible to receive and install the equipment.
For the EPC Package, it is expected that the second phase of cable stretching will be implemented from July 23 to August 18, 2025. The release of stone cages to reinforce the cable will take place from July 30 to November 19, 2025.
According to the Power Project Management Board 3, there are currently 5 households in the route corridor (package 01XL-DZCD) that have not received compensation, causing construction obstruction. In this situation, the Project Management Board, contractors and local authorities have coordinated to organize construction protection forces to ensure progress. In addition, it is the rainy and stormy season, unfavorable weather at sea has also affected the construction progress of some items.
Recently, at a working session with the Office of the State Steering Committee on important national programs, works and projects and key projects in the energy sector to remove difficulties in site clearance for the National Grid Power Supply Project to Con Dao district, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Soc Trang province Vuong Quoc Nam suggested that Vinh Chau town continue to promote propaganda and mobilization work so that the remaining households can soon agree to hand over the site. In urgent cases, it is necessary to coordinate with relevant units to develop construction protection plans according to regulations, so that the project can be completed on schedule.

The national grid power supply project for Con Dao district has a total investment of VND4,923 billion, expected to be completed and energized in 2025. The scale of the project includes a 110kV line of 103.7km long, including 17.5km of overhead line through Soc Trang, 77.7km of underground cables across the sea and 8.5km of underground cables on Con Dao island. The project also includes the expansion of Vinh Chau 220kV transformer station (Soc Trang) and the construction of a 110/22kV GIS transformer station in Con Dao.
Con Dao is a locality with a strategic position in terms of national defense, security and island sovereignty, and is also an important tourist destination. The current power system of the island district mainly relies on diesel with limited capacity (11.8 MW), not meeting the needs of socio-economic development. After completion, the project will supply power to Con Dao with a total capacity of about 29MW in 2026, 55MW in 2030 and 90MW in 2035.
