In early July, specialized units and local authorities are simultaneously deploying measurement, inventory, completing land acquisition dossiers and preparing ground to meet the progress of the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway line.
The project has a length of about 391 km of main route and 28 km of branch route, passing through 6 provinces and cities. The preliminary total investment is about 203,000 billion VND (equivalent to 8.37 billion USD), implemented in 2 phases.

As the starting point of the railway line, Lao Cai is focusing resources to synchronously implement tasks related to site clearance, construction of resettlement areas and connecting infrastructure.
In which, Lao Cai ward is one of the areas with a large volume of site clearance.
The project is expected to recover about 106 hectares of land, affecting 120 households and 56 businesses in residential groups No. 2, 4, 29 and Son Man 1 area.

According to the plan, households subject to relocation will be arranged in the resettlement area of residential group No. 29, the resettlement area of road S5 belonging to the ground leveling and technical infrastructure project of Tan Lap urban area, along with the resettlement area of road S9 belonging to Sub-urban Area No. 6 and No. 7.
Lao Cai ward sets a goal to complete land acquisition, compensation, support, resettlement and site clearance in the fourth quarter of 2026 to hand over clean ground for construction.

Information from the People's Committee of Lao Cai province, the route section passing through the province is about 143.6 km long, passing through 12 communes and wards. The area of land recovery in the pre-feasibility phase is about 1,397ha, involving 6,694 households, with a total site clearance cost of about 8,200 billion VND.
To date, the locality has completed surveying the entire route according to the pre-feasibility study dossier; conducted statistics and inventory for 1,414 households, organized and issued land acquisition notices for 577 households.
For Component Project 1 on infrastructure investment connecting stations on the route and station squares, the province has handed over 7.46/7.9 ha of land to the Railway Project Management Board for construction deployment.

The bidding package is implemented by a consortium of Truong Son Construction Corporation, Vietnam Import-Export and Construction Corporation, FECON Joint Stock Company, Vietnam Railway Construction Corporation Joint Stock Company and Corporation 319 (Ministry of National Defense). Construction period from January 2026 to July 2027.
For component project 2, the province has received site clearance markers for 9 stations and technical operation stations to serve land recovery and deploy further steps.
In parallel with site clearance, resettlement work is also being accelerated. Out of a total of 38 resettlement areas planned to be built to serve the project, 28 areas have been started so far; the remaining 10 areas are completing investment procedures.

In addition, ground leveling projects to serve the relocation of production facilities are also being implemented synchronously. Currently, one project has been completed, and the remaining two projects are expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2026.
When completed, the railway line is expected to strengthen cargo and passenger transport capacity, connect Lao Cai international border gate with the Capital region and Hai Phong seaport, and expand the Kunming - Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong economic corridor.
