In mid-December, the atmosphere of preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony of the railway project worth about 8.37 billion USD is taking place urgently in Lao Cai.
From site clearance and urban embellishment to ensuring security and order, relevant units are simultaneously taking action to prepare for the event that is expected to create a big boost for local socio-economic development.
According to the reporter's records, in the area where the groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held, the authorities are rushing to complete the site, arrange technical infrastructure, electricity, water systems and traffic diversion plans.
Through observation, at the vacant land in Dong Pho Moi Industrial Park, the construction of the theater is being urgently carried out to serve the groundbreaking ceremony on December 19.
The railway project has a total investment of about 8.37 billion USD (203,000 billion VND), identified as a strategic transport infrastructure project, connecting Lao Cai with major economic centers, while enhancing the capacity to transport goods and passengers, promoting trade through Lao Cai International Border Gate.
Speaking to Lao Dong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat - Chairman of Lao Cai Ward People's Committee said that preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony requires close coordination between departments, branches and local authorities.
"Currently, preparations for the groundbreaking work by the Railway Project Management Board have been basically completed. The ward is carrying out site clearance and assigned tasks well and is ready for the start date," said Mr. Nguyen Van Nhat.
Not only the authorities, Lao Cai people also expressed great expectations for this billion-dollar railway project. Many households believe that when the project is completed, travel and transportation of goods will be more convenient, opening up opportunities to attract investment, develop tourism and create more jobs for local workers.
The leader of Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee affirmed that the locality is focusing maximum resources, removing existing difficulties and obstacles so that the project can soon be implemented according to plan.
The careful preparation for the groundbreaking ceremony not only shows the province's determination, but is also an important first step for a strategic infrastructure project, creating new development momentum for the Northwest region in the coming time.
