Expected traffic project
Ba Trieu street (Hue City) is an important traffic project to reduce inner-city pressure. The project was approved in 2022, adjusted in 2023 and completed the transfer to the investor by 2025, with a total amount of more than 541 billion VND.
According to the plan, the route is about 923m long, connecting Le Quy Don - Duong Van An with Hung Vuong - Nguyen Hue. The cross-section is 26m, including 14m of road surface and 6m of sidewalk on each side, towards synchronous and modern urban infrastructure.
In fact, this road is currently under great pressure regarding traffic volume, especially during peak hours. Many sections do not have complete sidewalks, the situation of parking on the road surface is common, posing a potential risk of traffic unsafety.
In terms of design, the road surface will be paved with asphalt concrete on a crushed stone base, ensuring load-bearing capacity and durability.
Technical infrastructure is invested synchronously: Upgrading drainage according to new elevation, undergrounding power plants, installing LED lighting. The project recovers nearly 24,000m2 of land, affecting more than 181 households, many households have handed over land. When completed, the project contributes to improving traffic, raising the face of the central city of Hue and promoting socio-economic development.
Mr. Ho Van Tan Hoang (resident of Vy Da ward, Hue City) shared: "Having heard the news of the road being expanded, I am very happy, perhaps many people have been waiting for as long as me. Hopefully the project will be implemented quickly, serving the travel of our people.

Contractor "starts" after reflection
Although the commencement date has been set for March 8, 2026, by the end of March and extended to the beginning of April, the project construction site still shows no signs of implementation. This delay is posing a risk of seriously affecting the overall progress.
According to the Project Management Board for Construction Investment Area 1, on March 19, the unit issued a document requesting the contractor consortium of package No. 14 to urgently organize construction. At the same time, a specific time frame was also set out, which must be implemented no later than March 23 and the resource mobilization plan sent before March 24.
However, after the above deadlines, the site still has no changes. Notably, as of March 24, the contractor has not continuously deployed construction for 16 days, although the site has been handed over in parts from March 5 according to the contract commitment.
The contractor gave the reason for temporarily suspending construction due to fluctuations and scarcity of construction materials. However, the investor affirmed that the signed contract as well as current legal regulations do not allow temporary suspension in this case, so the above proposal has no basis for consideration.
Faced with that situation, on March 25, the Project Management Board continued to issue a document requesting the contractor to urgently mobilize sufficient manpower, equipment, and materials to deploy construction on schedule as committed. At the same time, the unit also issued a clear warning that if construction is continued to be delayed or carried out in an evasive manner, the investor will apply contract sanctions. By March 30, 2026, the Project Management Board continued to issue a document requesting warnings about contract violations with contractors as in the previous 2 documents.
Talking to a reporter of Lao Dong Newspaper, a representative of the Project Management Board said that after 3 times of issuing documents as well as feedback from the press, the contractor has submitted a report, announcing that it has agreed to concentrate equipment, materials, and labor to construct the project on April 3, 2026 as requested by the investor.
In the context that this is a key traffic project of Hue City, the slow implementation not only affects the public investment plan but also directly affects the lives of people in the area. As of April 6, through monitoring, the contractor is processing components at the workshop to implement the project. We will strengthen supervision and urge the progress of this key project," said the representative of the Project Management Board.
