Key project in Hue restarts after months of silence

After many months of almost no construction movement, the project to upgrade and expand Ba Trieu street, one of the key traffic projects in the center of Hue City, has officially started.

According to the initial plan, the project to upgrade and expand Ba Trieu street (Hue City) will start construction from March 8, 2026 and be completed in early February 2027. However, after the expected start time, the construction site almost fell into a state of silence for many months.

At that time, the contractor proposed to temporarily suspend the implementation due to scarcity of supply and fluctuations in construction material prices. However, the Project Management Board of Construction Investment Area 1 - the project investor - said that this reason was not legally sufficient and requested the construction unit to properly implement the commitments according to the signed contract.

Recorded by Lao Dong Newspaper reporters in the last days of June, the project has officially been implemented. Along both sides of Ba Trieu street, many areas have completed site handover. A series of houses and business establishments of people have been dismantled or are in the process of relocation to serve construction.

In the area intersecting with Duong Van An street, excavators are mobilized to dismantle old sidewalks, dig roadbeds, and treat underground technical infrastructure. Workers focus on reinforcing infrastructure, collecting materials and deploying auxiliary items.

Despite the hot weather, the construction teams still maintained progress. Because the road is still traffic with high vehicle density, the construction unit arranged warning forces to ensure safety for people.

The project to upgrade and expand Ba Trieu street has a total investment of more than 541 billion VND, invested by Zone 1 Construction Investment Project Management Board. This is considered one of the key traffic infrastructure projects to reduce pressure on the central area of Hue City.

According to the plan, the road is about 923m long, connecting from Le Quy Don - Duong Van An intersection to Hung Vuong - Nguyen Hue intersection. After completion, the cross-section of the route reaches 26m, with a road surface width of 14m and sidewalks of 6m on each side. The project synchronizes many items such as asphalt concrete roadbed, drainage system, underground electricity, LED lighting and granite sidewalks.

To implement the project, nearly 24,000m2 of land has been recovered, affecting more than 181 households. To date, many households and businesses along the route have agreed to hand over the site, contributing to creating favorable conditions for the project to enter the actual construction phase.

When completed, the road will not only help reduce traffic congestion and complete the urban infrastructure network but also expand the development space for the central area of Hue City.

Representatives of the Project Management Board for Construction Investment Area 1 said that the investor regularly inspects the site, urges contractors to accelerate progress, and promptly handle arising problems to soon complete the project, contributing to urban embellishment and meeting the travel needs of people.
