On the afternoon of June 10, monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar and lightning positioning system showed that convective cloud areas are developing strongly, causing rain with thunderstorms and lightning in many areas of Ho Chi Minh City.
Thunderstorm areas currently appear in the wards of Binh Tien, Chanh Hung, Phu Dinh, Binh Dong, Dien Hong, An Lac, Tan Tao and the communes of Vinh Loc, Tan Vinh Loc, Binh Loi, Tan Nhut, Binh Chanh, Thai My, An Nhon Tay, Nhuan Duc.
Forecast for the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop and expand, causing showers and thunderstorms in the above-mentioned areas, then spreading to neighboring areas. Common rainfall is from 5-30 mm, some places may exceed 50 mm.
The cause of thunderstorms is that the low pressure trough with its axis through the North Central region is being compressed and gradually moving southward, combined with the Southwest monsoon operating at medium intensity. Above, the subtropical high pressure with its axis passing through the South Central region and the South continues to operate, creating favorable conditions for thunderstorm clouds to develop.
Weather pattern forecast for the next 24-48 hours, the low pressure trough with its axis passing through the North Central region continues to be compressed and gradually filled. Above, the subtropical high pressure with its axis passing through the South Central and Southern regions maintains stable activity. Southwest monsoon operates with moderate intensity.
In the next 3-10 days, the hot low pressure area in the West tends to develop and gradually expand to the Southeast. Above, the subtropical high pressure continues to maintain stability, and will slightly shift to the East around June 13-14. The Southwest monsoon will still maintain its average intensity.
In the South, the weather is generally cloudy, with intermittent sunshine during the day. Scattered rain in some places at night and in the morning; scattered thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening, locally moderate to heavy rain. The lowest temperature fluctuates from 25-27 degrees C, the highest temperature from 32-34 degrees C; especially in coastal and island areas, it is commonly 30-32 degrees C.
The meteorological agency notes that the South is entering a period of heavy rain with thunderstorms. In thunderstorms, there is a possibility of tornadoes, lightning, strong gusts of wind and hail. In addition, localized heavy rain may cause temporary flooding in low-lying areas and urban areas with overloaded drainage systems, and also potential risk of landslides in hilly areas.
