On the afternoon of June 6, monitoring satellite cloud images, weather radar images and lightning positioning data showed that convective cloud areas are developing strongly, causing thunderstorms with lightning in many areas of wards and communes such as Tan Son, Tay Nam, Binh Hung, Tan An Hoi, Thanh An, Dau Tieng, Minh Thanh, Nhuan Duc, Cu Chi, Binh My, Ba Diem and Vinh Loc.
In the next 3 hours, convective clouds will continue to develop, causing showers and thunderstorms in the above-mentioned localities, then it is likely to expand to neighboring areas such as Thoi An, Thuan Giao, Hiep Binh, Long Nguyen, Ben Cat, Binh Duong, Hoa Loi, Phu An, Chanh Hiep, Phu Loi, Thoi Hoa, Bau Bang and Dong Thanh.
Common rainfall is from 5-25 mm, in some places over 30 mm. During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind at level 5-7 (8-17 m/s). Heavy rain in a short time can cause localized flooding in low-lying areas.
The cause of thunderstorms is due to the Southwest monsoon operating with moderate intensity, combined with the upper subtropical high pressure encroaching westward and raising its axis to the North.
It is forecasted that in the next 24-48 hours, the low pressure trough passing through the North will gradually weaken, and at the same time form a low pressure trough with an axis of about 23-25 degrees North latitude connected to the hot low pressure area in the West. By June 8, this system tends to be compressed by the continental high pressure part from the North. The Southwest monsoon continues to maintain its average intensity, while the upper subtropical high pressure continues to raise its axis to the North and encroach to the West.
In the period from 3-10 days, the West low pressure connected to the low pressure trough 23-25 degrees North latitude will continue to be compressed and gradually move southward. Above, the subtropical high pressure will continue to encroach westward, raising its axis to the North before gradually receding eastward from around December 12. 6. Southwest monsoon in the South will maintain activity with moderate intensity.
Therefore, the Southern region has thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Thunderstorms accompanied by tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind can cause damage to agricultural production, causing trees to fall, damage to houses, traffic works and technical infrastructure. Heavy rain also risks causing flooding, affecting traffic, living and production activities in many localities.
