Southern region forecast to enter widespread thunderstorms from next week

The influence of the Southwest monsoon combined with a low pressure trough is causing thunderstorms in the South to tend to increase next week.

Weather pattern forecast for the next 24-48 hours, the Southwest monsoon in the Southern region continues to operate with moderate intensity. Above, the subtropical high pressure with its axis passing through the South of the South tends to gradually move southward.

Weather pattern forecast for the next 3-10 days, Southwest monsoon maintains average intensity. The subtropical high pressure in the South continues to recede southward, while the subtropical high pressure in the North is expanding slowly to the West, with its axis passing through the Northern region. From July 23-24, a low pressure trough is forecast to form with its axis passing through the central and southern areas of the East Sea.

Due to the impact of the above weather patterns, from around July 23-24, thunderstorms in Ho Chi Minh City and the South tend to increase in both scope and intensity.

During thunderstorms, people need to be wary of tornadoes, lightning, hail and strong gusts of wind that can cause damage to agricultural production, break down green trees, damage houses, traffic and infrastructure works. Heavy rain also poses a risk of flooding, traffic congestion, affecting daily life, production and crops.
