Air India's preliminary report on the accident that killed at least 270 people last month said that the fuel for the plane's engine was cut off just a few seconds after the plane took off.
According to the report, immediately after takeoff, the fuel switch of both engines moved from the "running" position to the "cutoff" position for 1 second. This caused fuel for both aircraft engines to be lost.
In the cockpit recording, one of the two pilots asked the other why the switch was turned off. "The remaining attacker replied that he did not do that," the report said.
About 10 seconds later, the fuel flow for the engines was restored and the warm-up process was automatically started, but there was not enough time to prevent the plane from falling.
Just over 20 seconds after the switch turned to a "cutoff" state, one of the two pilots sent an emergency signal "Mayday mayday mayday".
The black box stopped recording data just a few seconds later.
The Air India plane carrying 230 passengers and 12 crew members was en route from India to the UK when it crashed into a building shortly after takeoff on June 12. Only 1 passenger survived. The plane crash also killed many people on the ground.
