According to initial information, at about 4 pm on January 7, the King Yacht (ship number SG-6861), which was anchored along the Saigon River, passing through Thanh My Tay ward, suddenly caught fire fiercely.
Upon receiving the news, the Command Information Center 114 under the Fire and Rescue Police Department (PCCC and CNCH - PC07, Ho Chi Minh City Police) mobilized forces and vehicles to the scene. The River Fire and Rescue Police Team mobilized 1 fire boat, 3 motorboats and 23 officers and soldiers; Area 16 Fire and Rescue Police Team mobilized 3 fire trucks and 23 officers and soldiers to participate in extinguishing the fire and preventing it from spreading.
At the scene, the forces deployed firefighting in two directions: from the shore approaching the bow area, engine room and from the outside of the river directly approaching the yacht. At the same time, functional forces arranged plans to protect neighboring houses, preventing the fire from spreading.
By 5:05 PM, the fire was basically controlled and completely extinguished at about 5:20 PM on the same day. The fire did not cause any casualties but caused the yacht to be burned down.
At the time of the fire, the yacht was in the process of repairing and decorating to prepare for Tet. When the fire was detected, the captain activated an emergency response process, using on-site fire fighting equipment to cordon off and limit the fire from spreading.
Currently, functional forces are still continuing to clarify the cause of the fire.
