Bravely changed jobs, quit being a commune civil servant after many years

Thùy Linh |

Although he is not a civil servant, only working in the private sector, Mr. An is also contributing and dedicating himself.

The whole country is focusing on solving key and urgent requirements and tasks, especially urgently and effectively implementing the "revolution to streamline the apparatus of the entire political system" in the spirit of Resolution No. 18-NQ/TW, ensuring science, following a roadmap, appropriate and effective steps, associated with streamlining the payroll, restructuring and improving the quality of the staff, civil servants and public employees, with a spirit of unity of will to act and work together.

In that "revolution", cases of civil servants and public employees who left the state agencies to work outside the government were mentioned as examples, when they were bold and courageous to "change jobs", accept change, leave stability and sustainability to find suitable development opportunities for themselves, and fully develop their abilities.

Sharing with Lao Dong reporter, Mr. Nguyen Binh An - born in 1990 (character's name has been changed upon request) has been working in the public administration environment for many years.

Mr. Nguyen Binh An is a civil servant, recruited as a source civil servant to work in communes, wards and towns. Before being recruited, Mr. An spent about 2 years studying source civil servant courses and nearly 6 years working as a commune civil servant, working at the one-stop department at the People's Committee of Son Tay Town (Hanoi) from 2013 to 2020.

Currently, Mr. An is an IT specialist at a private company.

When asked about the reason for changing jobs from the public to the private sector, Mr. An said: "There are many reasons for me to move out to work. Income is also a part, but more importantly, I feel that the working environment is not suitable, so I always feel uncomfortable. That's why I decided to quit my job."

Mr. An graduated from university with a major in information technology. With his family's direction, Mr. An looked for a job so that he could work close to home, with a stable income. In 2020, after much thought and consideration, Mr. An decided to change jobs, leaving the job position that he had spent many years recruiting and sticking with.

When he changed jobs, Mr. An faced opposition from many people in his family, because in everyone's mind, being recruited into a state agency is a long process of striving and trying. Moreover, Mr. An's income is similar to other commune and ward civil servants, although low but stable and income will increase gradually over time.

When he first left the public administration sector and went to work outside, his income did not increase much, and was even quite unstable due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I moved in 2020, I was about 30 years old, and it was during the COVID-19 pandemic, so it was quite difficult, especially when looking for a new job. If I had still been a civil servant at that time, my salary would have been stable. Meanwhile, when I went out to work for a business, sometimes I had a salary, sometimes I didn't, my income was unstable. I had to ask for help from friends," An shared.

However, after a few years, everything gradually stabilized, Mr. An's income was double, even triple, when he was a civil servant.

"My current job is more remote and difficult, but the income is better, helping me to take care of my family stably. Although it is difficult to say whether working for the government or the private sector is better, I just find my current job more comfortable, suitable for my ability and personality" - Mr. An said.

Currently, Mr. An works for a private company but the company still participates in implementing projects for the State.

"I feel that working outside of a government agency is also contributing and dedicating. Contributing anywhere is contributing, the important thing is that I do my job as best as I can" - he shared his thoughts with Lao Dong reporter.
