Phu Tho - From noon on October 18, the military force stopped using military ferries to reinstall Phong Chau pontoon bridge.

According to the announcement of Phu Tho Provincial Police, from 12 noon on October 18, Engineering Brigade 249 (Engineering Corps) stopped using military ferries to install Phong Chau pontoon bridge.

Thus, after the Red River water recedes, the flow rate decreases, ensuring safety conditions, the pontoon bridge will be reinstalled on the afternoon of October 18.

After the bridge is opened to traffic, pedestrians and non-motorized vehicles such as bicycles, motorbikes, and scooters will travel in two directions; cars and pickup trucks will travel in one direction (the military ferry does not serve cars). The pontoon bridge will operate from 5am to 9pm daily.

As reported, at 8:30 a.m. on October 16, due to the high water level of the Red River at Phong Chau bridge area and high flow rate, to ensure the safety of people and vehicles, the 249th Engineering Brigade urgently cut the Phong Chau pontoon bridge.

For more than half a month, Phong Chau pontoon bridge has effectively served the huge travel needs of people on both sides of the river. However, since its first opening on September 30, the military has had to temporarily close the bridge three times due to changes in the water level and flow of the Red River.
