Military ferry temporarily replaced Phong Chau pontoon bridge

Phu Tho - From 2:00 p.m. this afternoon (October 4), while Phong Chau pontoon bridge is temporarily out of service due to rising water levels in the Red River, military ferries will be used.

At noon on October 4, the announcement of Phu Tho Provincial Police showed that pedestrians, non-motorized vehicles, motorbikes, and all types of motorcycles can cross Phong Chau bridge (across the Red River connecting Tam Nong district with Lam Thao district) by military ferry, starting from 2:00 p.m. the same day.

Previously, under the direction of Minister of National Defence Phan Van Giang, in the immediate future, when the pontoon bridge cannot be rebuilt because the Red River is still flowing rapidly, the Engineering Corps is studying to organize a replacement ferry, only transporting people and motorbikes across the river. Pay attention to safety, reinforce the two sides of the military ferry, and use canoes to push the ferry. Issue a notice regulating the time, number of people and vehicles allowed to travel by ferry... The forces coordinate to ensure traffic order and safety, absolute safety for the people. Develop a plan to have canoes on duty 24/7 to respond promptly when an incident occurs.

As reported, on September 29, the 249th Engineer Brigade (Engineer Corps) completed the installation of a temporary pontoon bridge to meet the travel needs of the people. However, due to the rising and rapid flow of the Red River in recent days, the pontoon bridge is temporarily out of service until further notice.
