Tragic drowning on the Ma River in Bo Sinh commune, Son La

Son La - Heavy rain caused the Ma River water to rise and flow fast, two women in Bo Sinh commune were swept away and went missing while pulling fish.

On the afternoon of May 12, Mr. Tong Van Chien - Secretary of the Party Cell, Head of Huoi Pan village, Bo Sinh commune, said that a tragic drowning incident had just occurred in the Ma River area passing through Huoi Pan village.

According to initial information, at about 12:00 on the same day, Ms. T.T. H (born 2003) and Ms. L.T. T (born 1991), both residing in Huoi Pan village, while pulling fish and scooping fish on the Ma River, were unfortunately swept away by the water.

At the time of the incident, the river water rose, became cloudy and flowed strongly after many days of prolonged heavy rain.

Immediately after receiving the news, Bo Sinh Commune People's Committee mobilized functional forces and local people to organize search and rescue.

To date, rescue forces have found the body of Ms. T.T. H, while Ms. L.T. T is still missing. Search work is continuing to be deployed along the Ma River area with the coordination of the Fire and Rescue forces of the Ma River area and local people.

Local authorities have also notified communes in the downstream area of the Ma River to coordinate in supporting the search for missing victims.
