On September 6, the Ho Chi Minh City Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board (abbreviated as the Traffic Board) said that road 991B, which is more than 9.7km long, connecting the downstream area of Cai Mep port to National Highway 51, has gradually been completed; it is expected to be completed and put into operation at the end of 2026.
Previously, the project started in 2018 and was expected to be completed in 2024. However, due to many difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process, it has been adjusted the construction progress by competent authorities many times.
According to the Traffic Board, the progress and quality of work are being implemented to ensure compliance with the signed contract, and the total construction value of the bidding packages is estimated to reach about 95%.
In which, package No. 36 (from downstream Cai Mep to Mo Nhat bridge) has completed more than 97% of the construction output, with Rach Ong and Mo Nhat bridges completed. Package No. 37 (from National Highway 51 to Mo Nhat bridge) has been completed about 85%, of which the overpass section of National Highway 51 reached 99%; Rach Tre bridge reached 85%.
Recorded at the construction site, the project has been asphalted over a length of more than 7km from the downstream area of Cai Mep, along with sections on Rach Ong bridge, Mo Nhat, National Highway 51 overpass. Construction teams are quickly deploying to complete the remaining sections.
After completion and commissioning at the end of 2026, the project will contribute to completing and synchronizing the freight transport route for the Cai Mep - Thi Vai international gateway seaport complex. At the same time, it will support connecting Long Son industrial park to National Highway 51 and to Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway. Thereby, creating convenience in freight transport and serving the travel needs of people, contributing to promoting socio-economic development in the region in particular and the whole country in general.
Road 991B from National Highway 51 to the downstream Cai Mep port is about 9.73km long, started in 2018, expected to be completed in 2024, with a total initial investment of more than 3,951 billion VND. Among them, there are 4 bridges including: National Highway 51 overpass, Rach Tre bridge, Mo Nhat bridge, Rach Ong bridge.
After many adjustments and extensions of the progress, the 991B road project is expected to be completed and put into use by the end of 2026, with a total investment of more than 3,043 billion VND.
