On August 26, information from the Ho Chi Minh Road Construction Investment Project Management Board said that by mid-August 2026, the output of the Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section reached about 1,579/1,668 billion VND, equivalent to 94.7% of the contract value.

Currently, the entire route still has more than 4km of asphalt concrete unpaved and the section right in Thanh Thanh Cong industrial park still has 200m of foundation under construction and 500m of asphalt concrete unpaved," said a representative of the Project Management Board.

At the construction site, workers and many machines are being mobilized to continuously construct to complete the remaining work. This is considered the last "link" on the route before the project enters the completion phase.

Although the progress has reached a high level, the project is still under pressure from input costs. According to the Project Management Board, gasoline and oil prices have decreased, but many main materials, especially asphalt, are still at a high level. Not only facing difficulties in capital sources, the project also lacks human resources. The recruitment of workers is difficult due to labor shortages, while labor costs are increasing.

Faced with these difficulties, the investor has proposed to extend the project implementation time and has been approved by the Ministry of Construction to extend it until the end of December 2026. The Project Management Board sets a target to technically open traffic in September, and then continue to complete the remaining items in the last months of the year. According to the assessment of this unit, the goal of completing the project in 2026 is feasible.

The Chon Thanh - Duc Hoa section is 72.75 km long, of which the section through Ho Chi Minh City is nearly 31 km long, and the section through Tay Ninh province is nearly 42 km long. The project has a total investment of more than 2,292 billion VND, started in November 2023 and initially expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

Currently, the section from Tay Long bridge (Trang Bang ward) to Hoa Khanh roundabout (Hau Nghia commune) has basically completed hot asphalt, vehicles can circulate. However, to ensure traffic safety, the Project Management Board still put up signs prohibiting vehicles from moving through this road section.

With the remaining work not much, the construction site is being maintained continuously to complete the project according to the set plan.
