After a long time living in traffic jams and dust, people along Nguyen Tuan street (Thanh Xuan ward, Hanoi) can now breathe a sigh of relief when the road expansion project has been basically completed, taking on a new look.
Before being expanded, Nguyen Tuan street (the section from the intersection of Nguyen Trai street - alley 162 Nguyen Tuan) was always a constant traffic obsession for the people of the Capital.
The prolonged construction, coupled with the narrowed road surface, creates "bottleneck" points, turning Nguyen Tuan street into a serious traffic jam black spot, especially during peak hours.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hai, a business household that once had to temporarily close its store, shared that during the long construction of the project, when it was sunny, dust was everywhere, when it rained, it was muddy and messy. Sidewalks being dug up greatly affected traffic and business.
Many households around could not bear the house money and had to pay for the premises, cut holes to find a way back" - Ms. Hai said.
Up to now, when the road surface has been expanded to 21m flat, the sidewalk is paved with synchronous stone and newly planted green trees, the technical infrastructure system and lighting are completed, making many business households like Ms. Hai extremely excited.
Mr. Tran Van Nam (living on Nguyen Tuan street) said that so far the road has been doubled, traveling is much safer and more convenient.
The widened streets also help people's business stabilize again, and the appearance of the area has also changed greatly" - Mr. Nam said.
The project to renovate and expand Nguyen Tuan street was approved by the Thanh Xuan District (old) People's Committee in 2018.
The project is 720m long, starting point is the intersection with Nguyen Trai street, ending point is alley 162 Nguyen Tuan, the cross-section is expanded to 21m, including a 15m wide road surface and 2 sidewalks, each side 3m wide.
To implement the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project, the government must recover and clear 14,334m2 of land from 11 organizations and 160 households and individuals.
The project encountered obstacles in the implementation process, when many households did not agree to hand over the land, and there were many complaints related to the project.
After many times of local propaganda, mobilization and dialogue, by November 2024, most households had handed over land for the project.
From July 1, 2025, after operating the 2-level government, the Nguyen Tuan road expansion project will be transferred to Thanh Xuan Ward People's Committee as the investor.
