According to information from the Ministry of Public Security, on July 6 (local time), Lieutenant Colonel Raúl Serrano Chacón - Command of the Presidential Guard, Coordinator of the Vietnamese Rescue and Relief Delegation - authorized by the Government of Venezuela awarded the First-class "Venezuelan Hero" Medal to the Vietnamese Rescue and Relief (CNCH) Delegation and the Second-class medal to members of the delegation.
This is a noble reward from the Venezuelan Government to recognize the dedication, nobility and heroism of people who, despite all difficulties, have dedicated their efforts to support and humanitarian aid on Venezuelan territory.
To get this recognition is a challenging journey.
Entering the 6th day of working on the field - which is more than 10 days after the earthquake disaster occurred, serious environmental pollution put pressure on the shoulders of the working delegation members.
However, with high bravery and determination, the Vietnamese RESCUE Team still divided into many spearheads, racing against time to bring more victims' bodies out.
Up to this point, the Vietnamese RESCUE Team has taken the bodies of 57 victims out; returned and helped relocate many assets for local people.
In parallel with CNCH work, the delegation organized visits and sharing with about 500 households who have lost their homes and are facing particularly difficult circumstances. More than 360kg of canned meat, 100 cartons of milk, nearly 50 cartons of instant noodles and a large amount of blankets, clothes for epidemic prevention... have been delivered to people.
Although the material value is not large, the timely appearance and support of the Delegation has added great spiritual strength to the people of the friendly country at the most critical time," the delegation member said.
