Temporarily put aside sea affairs
These days, along the roads and wharves in Duy Nghia commune, the atmosphere of preparation for the election day of National Assembly deputies of the 16th term and deputies of People's Councils (HĐND) at all levels for the 2026 - 2031 term is spreading strongly. For fishermen who are already used to the rhythm of living at sea for many days, arranging time to be present in the locality to vote is the top priority.
Mr. Tran Tuong - a fisherman in Duy Nghia commune - shared that although busy with work at sea, he and his family always determine that going to the polls is the responsibility of every citizen. "I have to arrange work so that by that day I can implement the Party's policy. As a citizen, I have a responsibility to vote," Mr. Tuong affirmed.
Sharing that view, Mr. Nguyen Van Bay - a seasoned fisherman in the locality - also said that election day is an important event for the country, so all personal matters must be put aside or adjusted to suit.
According to Mr. Bay, the communication work in the locality in recent days has been very positive: "The government has been propagating for 5 or 7 days now. The loudspeaker goes to every alley, every village road, so we fishermen all know the schedule and are mentally prepared.

Going through every alley, knocking on every train
Recognizing that fishermen are a special labor force, often absent from the locality due to long sea trips, Duy Nghia commune authorities have implemented propaganda according to the motto "going through each alley, knocking on each boat". The highest goal is to ensure that all voters have information and fully exercise their rights.
Exchanging about the preparation work, Mr. Pham Duoc - Chairman of Duy Nghia Commune People's Committee - said that the locality is using a variety of communication channels from social networks, loudspeaker systems to visual propaganda. Especially, with the fishermen force, the commune focuses on through the Fisheries Union and solidarity groups at sea.
We have reviewed the voter list and issued voter cards to each household, along with leaflets promoting elections. For 55 cases of fishermen fishing offshore, we have used production teams to mobilize people to try to return to shore before March 15 to fulfill their civic obligations, and then continue to go offshore," Mr. Pham Duoc shared.
In addition to propaganda, logistics work such as preparing ballot boxes, listing voters' lists and ensuring security and order is also being seriously implemented. According to the plan, by March 12, Duy Nghia commune will complete all preparations to be ready for election day.
