At around 4:00 p.m. on April 23, in Ba Vi commune, Ba To district, Quang Ngai province, heavy rain accompanied by strong thunderstorms and hail (division of about 0.5 cm) occurred. Heavy rain and thunderstorms lasted about 40 minutes, causing serious damage to people's property.

According to initial statistics, the whole commune had over 95 households with unroofed roofs, damaged tiled and corrugated iron roofs. Of which: The number of houses that were severely damaged (over 80%) was 15; The number of houses that were severely damaged (over 50%) was 22; The number of houses that were slightly damaged (under 50%) was 58 houses.
In addition, the headquarters of the People's Committee and the Commune Cultural House had their roofs partially blown off; the headquarters of the Cultural Houses of the villages also had their roofs blown off, damaging the equipment inside.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms also caused a series of trees to fall, blocking National Highway 24 and the roads between Ba Vi - Ba Xa communes, causing traffic jams for many hours.
Immediately after the thunderstorms ended, the People's Committee of Ba Vi commune promptly directed the Commune Steering Committee for Natural Disaster Prevention, Control and Search and Rescue to assign forces to organize inspections and grasp the damage situation in the area. At the same time, focus on-site forces to support people to evacuate to safety.

The authorities have also repaired fallen trees, ensuring traffic on National Highway 24 and the Ba Vi - Ba Xa inter-commune road. The government mobilized 18 households with severely damaged houses to move to relatives' and adjacent houses that night to ensure safety.
