On September 26, according to information from the Department of Construction of Gia Lai province, the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project is about 125 km long, passing through 17 communes and wards of the province, and is a national key project with a total investment of more than 43,700 billion VND.
To implement the project, about 942 hectares of land will be reclaimed, with an estimated compensation, support and resettlement cost of nearly VND4,900 billion. On the entire route, there are 473 households affected by housing, and will be resettled to ensure a stable long-term life.
By mid-September 2025, site clearance markers at component projects 1 and 3 had been set up and handed over to the locality. In particular, component project 2 (68 km section through An Khe Pass) is completing documents, expected to be handed over at the end of September for measurement and counting.
The biggest difficulty at present is that legal procedures are still slow, while the volume of compensation, support and resettlement is very large. The Provincial People's Committee requires communes to synthesize difficulties and obstacles in the implementation process to develop a plan to remove and completely handle each specific case.
In particular, it is necessary to focus on verifying the origin of land, procedures for compensation, support, and resettlement as well as determining and approving specific land prices to calculate compensation when the State reclaims land.
It is expected that in December 2025, Gia Lai will officially start the Quy Nhon - Pleiku expressway project.
The Quy Nhon - Pleiku Expressway is designed with 4 lanes, a roadbed of 24.75 m wide, and a design speed of 100 km/h. After completion, the project will make an important contribution to promoting trade, developing logistics services, transporting agricultural products, and enhancing inter-regional connectivity. Thereby, creating momentum for socio-economic development for the region.
Currently, Quy Nhon and Pleiku are mainly connected via the newly upgraded and expanded National Highway 19, with a travel time of about 4 hours. When the expressway is completed, the travel distance between the two major cities is expected to be only about 1.5 hours.
