Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway adjusts design to make up for slow progress due to sand shortage

The Western region - Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway is currently only at 45% of the volume, the investor and contractor are studying to adjust the design to keep up with the schedule.

The Chau Doc - Can Tho - Soc Trang Expressway Project Phase 1 is 188.2 km long, with a total investment of more than 44,691 billion VND. Of which, the two component projects (DATP) No. 1 and 2 managed by the People's Committees of An Giang province and Can Tho city have a high disbursement rate, reaching 79% and 84%, respectively.

Den nay da xac dinh nguon hon 14,156 trieu m3. Con thieu nhieu nhat o du an thanh phan 4 khoang 5 trieu m3.
A representative of the Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project Management Board informed - the total demand for sand for all 3 component projects of about 21.1 million m3 has so far been determined to be more than 14 million m3, of which about 5.6 million m3 have been exploited and transported to the project. The nearly 7 million m3 still lacking is continuing to contact localities such as An Giang, Dong Thap, Vinh Long to carry out exploitation procedures and supplement sand sources for the project.

The Management Board of the Can Tho City Traffic and Agricultural Construction Investment Project is also directing consulting units and construction contractors to coordinate in surveying, studying and adjusting the design and construction measures accordingly, in order to shorten the progress and ensure the completion of the project in accordance with the Prime Minister's requirements.

Although the road part is facing difficulties in material sources, the bridge item on the route basically meets the requirements, expected to be basically completed in December 2025. Of which, DATP 2.3 and 4 through Can Tho City have constructed 96/100 bridges, the remaining bridges will be deployed in 2025.
