On August 28, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province issued an urgent document to the Provincial Border Guard Command, the Department of Fisheries and Sea Affairs, and the People's Committees of coastal communes with fishing vessels and Phu Quy special zone to resolve the need for fishermen to inspect fishing vessels.
Currently, many fishing vessels in the province have expired their inspection period but lack specialized agencies to promptly resolve the issue. This situation increases the number of fishing vessels that do not ensure operating conditions, affecting the province's task of combating IUU fishing.

Compared to July 1, 2025, the number of fishing vessels that have expired for inspection is 789, and fishing vessels whose fishing licenses have expired have increased to 1,478.
The reason is that from July 1, 2025, after merging into the new Lam Dong province, specialized management agencies are waiting to issue new functions, tasks, organizational structure and seals, so they cannot receive and process the records of fishing vessels that have expired for inspection.
To resolve this situation, the Department of Agriculture and Environment assigned the Department of Fisheries and Islands to direct the Inspection Center to review vessels that have expired. In particular, it is noted that the group of ships has just expired their inspection period and their exploitation license. Specific lists will be sent to communes and wards to encourage ship owners to urgently complete inspection procedures and extend their licenses.

The Department also requested to notify non-public fishing vessel inspection facilities that are operating legally to coordinate in organizing fishing vessel inspections for fishermen. The Registry Center must exchange and closely coordinate with these units, fully and accurately update information to the software system, and synchronize data into the National Fisheries Database (VNFishbase).
In addition, the Department of Agriculture and Environment requested the Provincial Border Guard to direct border stations and control stations to coordinate with fisheries control forces and representative offices at fishing ports to promptly notify the list of legitimate inspection facilities for fishermen.
The functional units are assigned to strengthen inspection and control of fishing vessels at the estuary, not allowing vessels to leave the port if they do not meet the prescribed conditions. Cases of intentional violations will be strictly handled.
