On July 17, the Party Committee of the Southern Power Corporation (EVNSPC) held a ceremony to attach a signboard to the Cai Rang 110kV Station and the connecting line to Can Tho City, welcoming the 4th Congress of the Party Committee of Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN), term 2025 - 2030.
The project has a total investment of nearly 110 billion VND, using unsecured loans from the French Development Agency (AFD) and equity capital from EVNSPC.
Started on November 10, 2024, the project was completed and put into operation on April 27, 2025 (exceeding the set schedule). The goal of the project is to meet the load needs of region 1, which is a key area for industrial development of Can Tho City, mainly supplying electricity to Cai Rang district and neighboring areas of the city, reducing power losses, and improving the reliability of continuous power supply for the area.
Mr. Nguyen Huu Tuan - Standing Deputy Secretary of EVN Party Committee - said that the project is of great significance, being among 12 projects and products approved by Vietnam Electricity Group to create a push for a widespread emulation movement in the Group Party Committee.
The operation of the 110kV Cai Rang Station and the Can Tho City connection line not only ensures energy security, serving socio-economic development, national defense and security of Can Tho City, but is also a very meaningful achievement to welcome the 4th Party Congress of the Vietnam Electricity Group, term 2025 - 2030; contributing to improving the reliability and effectively implementing the safe and continuous supply of electricity in the provinces and cities of the Mekong Delta.
Speaking at the ceremony, on behalf of the City Party Committee, People's Council, and People's Committee of Can Tho City, Mr. Nguyen Van Khoi - Vice Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee - acknowledged and commended the Vietnam Electricity Group, Southern Power Corporation, Can Tho City Power Company, the city's departments, branches and construction units, and consulting units for their close, responsible, and high-level efforts to complete the project ahead of schedule, ensuring quality, safety and efficiency.
Can Tho City expects the electricity industry to continue to pay attention to and prioritize investment in developing a synchronous, modern, smart, and environmentally friendly power grid system, in order to effectively serve the socio-economic development process of the city and the Mekong Delta. Accordingly, the city will continue to accompany and provide maximum support in terms of policies and laws, site clearance and create favorable conditions for power projects to be implemented on schedule.
