On the morning of August 8, Ho Chi Minh City functional forces are handling the fire incident of a wooden boat on the Saigon River, passing through Binh Quoi ward.
According to initial information, at about 6:30 am on the same day, people living along the Saigon River discovered a wooden boat moving in the middle of the river suddenly catching fire, emitting an explosion. The fire quickly engulfed the boat, accompanied by a large column of smoke.
At the time of the incident, there were some people on the boat. Some people were said to have jumped into the water and were approached and supported by others on other boats to bring them ashore.
Upon receiving the news, functional forces of Binh Quoi ward, Fire and Rescue Police Department (PC07) of Ho Chi Minh City Police, and waterway police forces of the Traffic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police quickly approached the scene by waterway to put out the fire and organize search and rescue.
Up to now, information about the number of people affected and casualties in the incident is being verified by functional agencies.
The wooden boat was then burned down and sank into the river. Many pieces of wood and items on the boat drifted in the area where the incident occurred.
Functional agencies are clarifying the cause of the fire, and at the same time continue to search and verify information related to people on the boat.
