On the morning of July 11, after the fishing boat fire at Tam Quan fishing port (Hoai Nhon Bac ward), Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Tuan Thanh directly inspected the scene and directed the remediation of the consequences.
At the scene, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh praised the police force, border guards, military, local authorities and Tam Quan Fishing Port Management Board for promptly deploying firefighting, controlling the fire, preventing casualties and limiting the fire from spreading to other ships.

To soon overcome the consequences, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Thanh requested the police agency to coordinate with relevant units to urgently examine the scene, investigate, verify, and clarify the cause of the fire.
The People's Committee of Hoai Nhon Bac ward and the Tam Quan Fishing Port Management Board urgently compile a full inventory of damage to fishing vessels, fishing gear, machinery, equipment and other assets; visit and encourage affected ship owners and fishermen, review support policies to propose to the Provincial People's Committee for consideration and resolution.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment coordinates with functional units to guide fishermen to overcome the consequences and soon stabilize fishing activities.

The Standing Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee also requested to strengthen inspection of fire prevention and fighting work at fishing ports, storm shelters and fishing boat concentration areas to prevent similar incidents. At the same time, urgently implement support solutions, create conditions for people to soon stabilize their lives and restore production.
According to the Gia Lai Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment, the unit proposed that the Provincial People's Committee support each ship owner with a burned ship with 15kg of rice/person/month and 3 million VND/household/month for 3 months.
According to initial information, the fire occurred at about 7:10 pm on July 9 at Tam Quan storm shelter anchorage. The fire was controlled at about 8:20 pm and completely extinguished at 10:40 pm.

8 fishing boats caught fire belong to fishermen in Hoai Nhon, Hoai Nhon Dong and Hoai Nhon Bac wards, all with a length of over 15m. Among these, 1 boat has registered for dismantling.
Through initial review, 6 completely burned ships have lost all fishing gear, fuel reserves and many machines and equipment serving seafood exploitation. The fire did not cause any casualties but caused great damage to property and livelihoods of many fishermen.
On the morning of July 10, leaders of Hoai Nhon Bac Ward People's Committee visited households with damaged fishing boats and supported 5 million VND for each boat owner, including Mr. Phan Minh Kiet (fishing boat BD-96677-TS), Mr. Phan Van Coi (fishing boat GL-99222-TS) and Mr. Nguyen Van Van (fishing boat BD-97407-TS).

This is the 2nd largest fishing boat fire in Gia Lai province in just 10 days. Previously, at noon on June 29, a fire broke out from a fishing boat anchored in the Nhon Phuoc area, bordering Quy Nhon Dong ward and Tuy Phuoc Dong commune, burning down 12 fishing boats and partially burning 4 other boats.
Immediately after this fire, Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Pham Anh Tuan held an emergency meeting, directing the immediate implementation of initial support policies to help fishermen soon stabilize their lives. Accordingly, each case of a burned ship is supported with 15kg of rice/person/month and 3 million VND/household/month for 3 months.
