On October 27, the 4th Session (special session) of the People's Council of Gia Lai province, term XII, 2021-2026, reviewed and approved a Resolution to support fishing boat owners who are not qualified to exploit aquatic products in the area.

According to the Resolution, the province supports fishing boat owners with money equivalent to 30kg of rice/person/month, according to market rice prices. Each fishing boat owner receives 3 million VND/month. The implementation period is from September 2025 to the end of 2025, with a total estimated cost of about 8.8 billion VND.
The support subjects include fishing boat owners and members who live in the same household and have permanent residence in the province.

At the meeting, Mr. Cao Thanh Thuong - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Gia Lai province - said that the whole province currently has 424 fishing vessels that are not qualified for exploitation. These are vehicles with a high risk of repeating IUU violations, making it difficult to manage and negatively affecting the implementation of urgent tasks to counter the European Commission's "yellow card" warning.
According to Mr. Thuong, preventing unqualified fishing vessels from operating has caused many boat owners and workers to lose their jobs and have difficulty in life. The process of converting fishing is not possible immediately, so timely support is needed to stabilize the income and life of fishermen and family members.

This Resolution aims to support the lives of fishermen whose fishing vessels do not meet the conditions for registration, inspection, and licensing of fishing vessels or are not operating properly, thereby reducing immediate difficulties, stabilizing income and life for boat owners and household members.
In addition to this Resolution, the session also approved 26 other Resolutions on the fields of finance - budget, land, policies, ... such as: Adjusting the state budget estimate in 2025; supplementing the medium-term public investment plan for the period 2021-2025 and the public investment plan in 2025; regulating tuition fees for public preschools and general schools from the 2025-2026 school year; regulating tuition support levels for preschool children, primary school students and students at private and public educational institutions in the province...
