Gia Lai proposed that localities coordinate to inspect and supervise 74 fishing vessels that do not meet the conditions for fishing and are anchored outside the province, resolutely not allowing them to leave port.

Through review, Gia Lai province currently has 74 fishing vessels that do not meet the conditions to participate in seafood exploitation (unregistered, expired registration, food safety, exploitation license,...) anchored outside the province.

In which, 29 ships are anchored in Ho Chi Minh City; 9 ships in Khanh Hoa; 8 ships in Lam Dong; 7 ships in An Giang; 7 ships in Quang Ngai; 6 ships in Da Nang; 5 ships in Dak Lak; 2 ships in Ninh Binh and 1 ship in Quang Tri.

To strictly control the fleet, combat IUU fishing and prepare to work with the Inspection Delegation of the European Commission (EC) for the 5th time, Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee proposed that localities coordinate to inspect the above-mentioned fishing vessels when docking and leaving ports; resolutely not allow ships that do not meet operating conditions to leave port and strictly handle violations.

Localities also review and accurately identify the anchoring locations of each ship; take photos with full information about coordinates, time, and location. Inspection and handling results and images of violating ships are sent to Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee (through the Department of Agriculture and Environment, Sub-Department of Fisheries) for synthesis, serving the preparation for the 5th inspection of the EC Inspection Team.

To date, Gia Lai has completed 19/19 assigned tasks related to IUU fishing prevention. In the coming time, the province will continue to tighten the management of the fleet, especially ships that do not meet operating conditions; control 100% of fishing vessels entering and leaving ports; thoroughly handle cases of loss of connection to journey monitoring devices for more than 6 hours without reporting locations; strictly punish violations of IUU fishing...

Vice Chairman of Gia Lai Provincial People's Committee Duong Mah Tiep requested localities to maintain on-duty forces throughout the EC Inspection Delegation's working time; continue to review and accurately update data on fishing vessels under management. Border Guards and Provincial Police coordinate to ensure security and order in the fishing port and seaport areas; strengthen control of ships entering and leaving, promptly detect and handle violations according to regulations.
