At 4:30 p.m. on October 13, on National Highway 15B, in Phu Hoa village, Yen Hoa commune, a truck with license plate 38C-109.18 driven by Nguyen Dinh Duong (born in 1979, residing in Dong Tien commune; Ha Tinh province) traveling from South to North collided with a motorbike with license plate 38X1 - 483.32 driven by Nguyen Dinh S (84 years old, residing in Quy Hoa village, Yen Hoa commune) crossing the road.
The accident left Mr. Nguyen Dinh S seriously injured and taken to the emergency room but died before arriving at the hospital.
After receiving the report, Yen Hoa Commune Police coordinated with functional forces to be present at the scene to investigate and clarify the cause.
Previously, on October 5, on National Highway 1 in Song Tri Ward, Ha Tinh Province, an accident occurred between a car with license plate 38C - 178.25 driven by Truong Van Q (46 years old, residing in Ky Xuan Commune, Ha Tinh Province) and a motorbike with license plate 38KE - 0147 driven by Mr. Nguyen Dinh Th (89 years old, residing in Tan Phuc Thanh 2 Residential Area, Song Tri Ward).
After the collision, people took Mr. Th to the emergency room, but due to severe injuries, the victim died.
On September 20, a passenger car with license plate 18F - 002.xx traveling on National Highway 1 in the South - North direction when arriving at Can Loc commune collided with a motorbike with license plate 37 - 856.xx driven by Mr. T.D.N (80 years old, residing in Vinh Phong village, Can Loc commune) traveling from the branch road to National Highway 1. As a result, the motorbike was caught under a passenger car, Mr. N died on the spot.
According to statistics from the Traffic Police Department of Ha Tinh Police, in the first 9 months of 2025, the whole province had 257 traffic accidents, killing 181 people and injuring 149 people. Of which, there were 123 accidents with 86 deaths and 58 injuries related to people over 55 years old participating in traffic.
Mr. Nguyen Tien Dung - Head of the Department of Transport Management, Vehicles and Traffic Safety (Ha Tinh Department of Construction) said that the elderly participating in traffic tend to have more accidents than young people because their ears, eyes, health and reflexes have all decreased and are slow.
At the same time, the elderly also have more difficulty reading and understanding traffic signs, leading to an increased risk of traffic accidents.
The current traffic law does not stipulate the maximum age for drivers of motorbikes and mopeds, however, from traffic accidents, it can be seen that the elderly when driving a vehicle participate in traffic and face many risks of accidents.
To proactively limit traffic accidents involving the elderly and the elderly, in recent times, Ha Tinh Police have directed professional units and commune and ward police to strengthen propaganda and mobilization work for the elderly and the elderly to limit driving vehicles in traffic.
Family and relatives need support when the elderly need to travel far, and if they cannot arrange a time, they can rent and use public passenger transport for their parents and grandparents.
