Cong Hoa Street, along with Truong Chinh, Pham Van Dong and Hoang Van Thu Streets, are vital routes, gateways to Ho Chi Minh City and Tan Son Nhat Airport. Therefore, traffic volume on these routes is very high, often causing congestion during rush hours.

To address this situation, according to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport, the project to build a road connecting Tran Quoc Hoan - Cong Hoa has been implemented and is expected to be put into operation in April 2025. This project will help share part of the traffic volume, reducing pressure on Cong Hoa Street.
Previously, the plan to organize one-way traffic for Cong Hoa Street and Tran Quoc Hoan connecting road was considered but was not suitable. The reason is that the traffic nature of the gateway routes has a big difference between the morning and afternoon peaks, causing congestion at the intersections.

Therefore, after Tan Son Nhat Airport Terminal 3 and the Tran Quoc Hoan connecting road project are put into operation, traffic in the area will remain as it is, while some solutions will be added at intersections to share traffic flow between Cong Hoa Street and Tran Quoc Hoan connecting road.

Regarding immediate and long-term solutions, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport will continue to implement measures such as regulating smart traffic lights, regulating mobile median strips at intersections, adding traffic organization solutions and enhancing the activities of the Rapid Response Team in the Tan Son Nhat airport area.
In addition, in the future, the area around Cong Hoa Street will continue to implement projects to upgrade, expand roads and build metro line 2. Traffic organization in the area will be studied and adjusted to suit each phase of these projects.
