Many key traffic projects face site clearance obstacles
Many key transport projects in Can Tho are currently facing difficulties in site clearance, causing significant impact on construction progress, even though some items have been implemented.

At the project to upgrade and expand National Highway 91 (Km0 - Km7 section), site handover has reached about 7,750/14,086m, equivalent to 55% on both sides of the route. In which, some areas such as Thoi An Dong ward have handed over 100% of the site, but many other sections have not been completed, putting pressure on the overall construction progress.
For the project to renovate, upgrade, and connect the provincial waterway and road transport system 925B and Nang Mau canal, with a total investment of about 1,700 billion VND, a route length of 37km, it is still in a state of slow progress due to site clearance issues. The construction volume at packages is still low, only reaching from 1% to 6.8%, while the scope of site clearance is up to 77ha, involving about 1,597 households. This is one of the large-scale projects but implementation is still slow.
Similarly, the Provincial Road 927 project (Cây Dương town section - old Ngã Bảy city) has a total investment of more than 266 billion VND, currently reaching about 50% of the progress. Some items such as the roadbed, culvert system and bridges have basically been completed or are under construction, but still need to be accelerated to ensure the completion target according to the plan for the period 2023 - 2026.
Disbursement pressure of public investment capital in 2026
Faced with the reality that many projects are still facing obstacles, leaders of Can Tho city requested to focus on removing the "bottleneck" of site clearance, considering this as a decisive factor in the progress of public investment capital disbursement in 2026.

Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee Truong Canh Tuyen requested investors, Commune and Ward People's Committees to closely coordinate with contractors and consulting units to accelerate site clearance, ensure handover as committed, especially prioritizing key projects and urgent projects expected to start and be completed in 2026.
At the same time, investors and project management boards must urgently complete finalization procedures for completed projects that have been accepted, handed over and put into use in order to definitively disburse the allocated capital, avoiding prolonged backlog.
The Department of Agriculture and Environment is assigned to take the lead in reviewing all difficulties and obstacles in site clearance work, classifying them by group of issues and proposing solutions. The results will be summarized and reported to city leaders to organize a thematic meeting in April 2026 to thoroughly handle existing problems.
The City Land Fund Development Center continues to accelerate the progress of preparing and implementing compensation, support, and resettlement plans. People's Committees of communes and wards are required to allocate 100% of the capital plan in detail, develop specific disbursement roadmaps for each project and commit to progress quarterly.
Reality shows that site clearance is still the biggest "bottleneck" in the implementation of public investment in Can Tho. Currently, the City Civil and Industrial Project Management Board is facing 42 projects in 27 communes and wards, with a total budget of more than 1,600 billion VND, of which compensation, support and resettlement costs account for more than 1,100 billion VND.
The city emphasized the requirement to strengthen dialogue with people, promptly resolve legitimate petitions, and create consensus in the land recovery process, in order to ensure the progress of project implementation, contributing to the implementation of the goal of disbursing 100% of public investment capital in 2026.
