According to information from the Traffic Safety Committee of Phu Yen province, at around 3:30 p.m. on January 25, on National Highway 1, through Quan Cau Pass (Tuy An district), a collision occurred between a tractor-trailer and a car, causing traffic disruption on the route.
By 6 p.m., the traffic congestion had been largely resolved and vehicles were moving at a slow speed. The collision caused heavy damage to both vehicles, but there were no casualties.
On the same evening, traffic congestion also occurred on National Highway 1 through An Hiep Commune (Tuy An District). The same situation also occurred on National Highway 1 through Dong Hoa Town.
Traveling from Saigon to Binh Dinh, Mr. Nguyen Dat (33 years old, living in Quang Nam province) shared: "I took advantage of the early morning to go home for Tet, but the number of vehicles on National Highway 1 was too crowded, many sections had to move little by little, making the way home longer, everyone on the road felt tired".
In an interview with Lao Dong on the same evening, the leader of Tuy An Traffic Police Station (Traffic Police Department of Phu Yen Province Police) said that currently, traffic on National Highway 1 has returned to normal, but some sections have heavy traffic volume so the speed of movement is slow.
"Before, during and after Tet, the traffic volume on National Highway 1 is high, we have also arranged for traffic police to patrol and guide vehicles to reduce congestion and traffic jams. During Tet this year, the traffic police will not distribute free water and cold towels like previous years, instead, they will gather water and cold towels at one location, and anyone in need can stop by to receive them," said a person.
Previously, on the evening of January 22, on National Highway 1, through Xuan Dai ward (Song Cau town), there was also a collision between passenger bus with license plate 18H-022.55 and passenger bus with license plate 29K-042.09, causing traffic congestion on the route.
