Nghe An - A sudden rain accompanied by strong winds knocked down and destroyed many Tet flower pots, causing significant damage to many small traders.

On the morning of January 26 (27th of the 12th lunar month), a rather heavy rain suddenly fell on Vinh City, Nghe An Province. At the same time, strong winds following the rain knocked down a series of flower pots and ornamental plants sold for Tet, causing damage and loss of property.

“The sudden heavy rain and strong winds left me unable to react and helplessly watched as the flowers and ornamental plants I had been selling for Tet were damaged. The initial damage is estimated to be in the tens of millions of dong,” said Nguyen Thi Thuy, a flower and ornamental plant vendor in the Vinh City Central Park.

According to Ms. Thuy, this year the economy is difficult, purchasing power is low, although Tet flowers and ornamental plants are diverse and affordable, but consumption is slow, so she and many other small traders are very worried.

"With this situation, I've suffered heavy losses this year, and I've lost Tet. Next year, I won't dare risk doing Tet flower business again," said Ms. Thuy.

According to records, the strong wind and heavy rain that hit Vinh City this morning caused damage to many small traders selling flowers and ornamental plants during Tet.

Besides, the rainy weather makes the business of flowers and ornamental plants for Tet even more gloomy because people are afraid to go shopping.

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, on January 26, 2025, the North and North Central regions will have severe cold, mountainous areas will be extremely cold, and high mountainous areas will likely have frost and frost.
