Widespread heavy rain on the evening of August 27 caused localized flooding and water stagnation in many areas. Hanoi Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company has mobilized forces and vehicles, operating pumping stations to the maximum to drain water.

By 8:00 PM on August 27th, rainfall in many areas exceeded 100mm. In which, Tay Mo station (railway tunnel area) recorded 135.1mm; Dai Mo station (National Convention Center) 120mm; Xuan Dinh 106.6mm; Cau Giay area, measured at Park 1 lake, reached 105.2mm.
Some other areas also recorded heavy rainfall such as Nghia Do (Hoang Quoc Viet) 87.7mm, Lac Long Quan 87.3mm and Ba Dinh 58.3mm.
Heavy rain in a short time put pressure on the urban drainage system. Through inspection, Hanoi Drainage One Member Limited Liability Company recorded 8 main flooding points.
On Ngoc Lam street, the section from Long Bien 1 intersection to Gia Lam Urban Environment Enterprise, water flooded on a section about 30m long, 10m wide, and 0.5m deep.
The area of intersection 246 My Dinh street is flooded about 150m, 8m wide, 0.3m deep. Nguyen Gia Bong street is flooded about 200m, 20m wide, 0.3m deep.
On Hoa Bang street, the sections from house number 91 to 97 and from house number 54 to 56 are flooded about 80m, 0.3m deep. Phu Xa street is flooded about 150m, 0.3m deep; Tran Binh street is flooded about 100m, 0.2m deep.
In addition, Vo Chi Cong street, UDIC area, water stagnation is about 40m, 0.15m deep. Dinh Tien Hoang street, Fountain area, a water stagnation point about 10m long, 0.1m deep appears.
Faced with heavy rain, Hanoi Drainage Co., Ltd. implemented a duty plan, mobilizing workers and specialized vehicles to key areas.
Drainage forces focus on traffic diversion, danger warnings, and guidance for vehicles through deeply flooded areas. Garbage collection at water intake stations and drainage are carried out continuously.
Reversing gates of regulating lakes are maximized to increase rainwater reception capacity. At the same time, many large pumping stations are operating at full capacity to lower water levels on rivers, canals and regulating lakes.
Yen So, Bac Thang Long - Van Tri, Co Nhue, Dong Bong 1, Lac Long Quan, Phan Van Truong, Cau Chui, Ha Tri, Mau Luong, Phuc Dong, Van Phuc, Da Sy, Yen Nghia... pumping stations are maintained to operate continuously according to procedures.
Until 8 pm on August 27, Hanoi area continued to have rain. Drainage, environmental sanitation and technical operation forces maintained 24/24h duty, closely monitoring points at risk of flooding.
