On the afternoon of August 27, the President of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa sent a congratulatory letter to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) and the Vietnamese national team after winning the ASEAN Cup 2026 championship.
In a letter to Mr. Tran Quoc Tuan, AFC Standing Committee Member, VFF President, Mr. Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa sent congratulations to VFF and the Vietnamese team on the occasion of the team's coronation in Hanoi.
The AFC President assessed the championship of the Vietnamese team as "a completely deserved ending" for a dramatic, successful and commendable tournament.
He also requested VFF to convey congratulations to all members of the Vietnamese national team for this achievement.
I am very pleased to send to you and the Vietnam Football Federation my best wishes and best wishes on the occasion of the Vietnamese team winning the ASEAN Cup 2026 championship today in Hanoi," the AFC President wrote.
At the end of the letter, Mr. Salman bin Ebrahim Al Khalifa expressed his desire to meet VFF President Tran Quoc Tuan soon in the near future.
The congratulatory message from the head of Asian football is recognition of the achievements of the Vietnamese team at the ASEAN Cup 2026, and also shows AFC's high appreciation for the success of Vietnamese football.
